The Dress A Child program started in the year 2007 in the hopes of providing needy children with a new set of clothing. Since March 2000, Prints of Hope has reached out to thousands of poor children in various countries around the world. If you have traveled to a third world country, you have seen the amount of children that lack clothing and walk barefoot. Many obtain bacteria and diseases that become life threatening when not treated. It is know that not having the appropriate clothing and shoes to wear, contributes to 90% of the preventable diseases found in third world countries. Many are unable to attend school because they don’t have the means to purchase uniforms and shoes. Others need to work from a very young age and without shoes they suffer from foot lesions preventing them from working to help their families.
It was after seeing such a need that Prints of Hope launched Dress A Child (DAC) in 2007.
The program simply consists in providing a new shirt, pants/skirt for girls, pants/shorts for boys, and a pair of socks and shoes (clogs in particular) to a child in need. What is so neat about this program is that in addition to providing an outfit to a child that may have never before received a new set of clothing to wear in his/her life, the shoes also supply protection from diseases that they may obtain by walking barefoot or with damaged shoes.
The program provides incredible joy to those children who receive the gift as well as the people who participate by donating the new clothing. Many people have made this a family project purchasing the clothes together, placing the outfits in bags, writing a letter to the kids that will receive the gift and even sending a picture of themselves. This is an incredible to give your best to those that are less fortunate, and share your blessings. Will you be part of leaving lasting prints in the lives of those who need it most? We are waiting for your donated new outfits for a boy or girl; gift bags are collected all year round. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to be a blessing to these children.
